HS Friendly Community Learning Environments

The Fairfax Community Library welcomes Homeschoolers from the area to take advantage of our extensive collection, numerous public access computers, and lively program schedule.  We also offer Listen Up Vermont for audio and e books.  Those who reside outside of Fairfax can get a library card for $15/year.

Although we are located within the BFA-Fairfax school building, community patrons are welcome at the library any time we are open.  If you prefer to avoid the times when classes are in the library (it can be noisy and active!), we are happy to supply you with the schedule during the school year.

In the fall of 2011 we will begin a series of “2nd Wednesdays” once a month specifically for Homeschoolers.  These informal afternoons are your special time at the library to meet up with other Homeschoolers and engage in some fun activities like games, crafts, sharing of projects, etc.  Call or email the library for more information.

You can access our catalog from any computer by going to www.library.bfafairfax.com.
Our hours are:
School year: MW 8:00 – 5:30; T & TH 8:00 – 8:00; F 8:00 – 3:15; SAT 9 - 1
Summer: MWF 10-5:30; T & TH 9 - 8; SAT 9 -1

Standardized Testing Opportunities

NWVT Homeschoolers
Annually in April, a group of BJU Press Approved ITBS/Iowa Test Adminstrators (HS Moms) volunteer to administer the test to Grades 3-8 and Grades 9-12. Registration takes place in February of each year. Official results are sent directly to parents from BJU on official publisher stationary. This test is approved by the VT Department of education to be used for end-of-the-year proof of progress (except for a book list, PE, Fine Arts & Health).
